Works of art that also have a practical use are rare. Not so the Berlin BoomboxThis designer piece by Axel Pfaender transforms the music from your smartphone or MP3 player into rich sounds - but only after you've had the fun of putting it together yourself :)
The set naturally comes with instructions so that you are not completely in the dark when assembling the cardboard parts and installing the 2x5 watt class D speakers. But don't worry, no glue or other tools are required and the assembly is done in no time. If you don't like black and white, you can of course paint the Berlin Boombox yourself or decorate it with stickers.
Finished? Then you can place your smartphone or MP3 player in the holder provided in the middle and connect it with the 3.5mm jack cable. Devices with a maximum width of 69mm and 16mm thickness fit perfectly. The Samsung Galaxy S3, which is about 2mm wider, also works, but you have to press the cardboard slightly to the side so that the smartphone is not switched off by the pressure ;)
From then on, the approx. 900g Berlin Boombox (which is "funded by Kickstarter" by the way) can also be carried around on the sturdy carrying handle so that you can enjoy the stereo sound at your next garden party or school presentation.
The housing of the retro ghetto blaster is made from recycled materials, protects the environment and makes the hearts of all sustainability lovers beat faster. By the way, furniture made of cardboard was already around two hundred years ago. If that's not retro, we don't know what is... ;)
P.s.: Rain and humidity should be avoided, ghetto blasters prefer to be in the dry :)
