The Internet is new territory for all of us.
Dear Mrs. Merkel,
just because you may have sent your very first email only a few days ago, have never been on Twitter, and think the term "meme" is the name of a two-year-old's stuffed animal, doesn't mean that this is the case for everyone else. In contrast to you, many many people have been exploring, using, and "cultivating" the Internet for years (fortunately, culture is a broad term) - new territory is something else. So you should rather say:
The Internet is new territory for me. Everyone else has been coming and going there for a long time.
